مشاهدة النسخة كاملة : ۞ Case Of The Week ۞
Dear 2nd year colleagues
Peace be upon you all
I hope you are all healthy and doing so well. I also wish you are leading joyful midyear vacation. This time I'm here to introduce anew proposal aiming at enhancing our clinical sense. It's " Case Of the Week " .
We all - throughout - our journey with the curriculum of the different medical basic sciences come across some clinical applications . It's our role her to magnify such clinical cases sothat those applications 'd be even more stabilized in our minds ,the thing that ultimately improves our clinical medical knowledge
A demonstrating example :-
We - for instance - studied palatine tonsils and one such important clinical application is " Tonsillitis", on our page Tonsillitis is to be further tackled with more and more clinical information .
I hope you all could get the point
Thank you in advance
Best of luck
yours

How great !!
That would be very nice & useful to achieve. Away from boring information, clinical ones will be very interesting to deal with.
And as a start I'd like to discuss that case in the anatomy axam with u.
I hope this can be included in what u ment Dr.Zika
The case was about a man who had a knife cut extending from the tragus to the corner of mouth
which of the following structures is more likely to be injured .
:
Parotid duct
Superficial temporal artery
mandibular nerve
away from the model answer
which one is the most suitable in your opinion & according to
our studies.
That's it 4 now
Many thanks 4 u Dr.Zika

انما نقول ايه ف د: كاريمان اعتمدت الاجابه parotid duct
Dear Dr.Pinky
peace be upon you
At the commencement I hope you are healthy and fine . I hope you have done the best in your mid-year assessments.
As regard the question you mentioned , you are just right to doubt the model answer .It's really such a controversial one. Anyhow and apart from their answer , let's tackle the question logically
We should 1stly refer to the surface anatomy of the parotid duct , which is represented by the middle third of a line drawn from the tragus of ear to a point midway between the nose and upper lip , the line is situated one finger breadth below the zygomatic arch .
From the previous piece of information , it's to be logically concluded that the parotid duct lies at a higher level than the corner of the mouth , and distant from tragus .
Then we should stress on the anatomy of the superficial temporal artery which even though arises as a terminal br. of the ECA deeply inside the substance of the parotid gland , it becomes superficial immediately in front of tragus , a site where we all can feel its palpation.
Now come to the case
a man having a straight knife cut extending from the front of tragus to the corner of mouth
From this statement we can imagine a wound that lies at a lower level than the midpoint bet. the upper lip and the ala of nose i.e inferior to the parotid duct .
Moreover this wound passes straightly from tragus to the corner , the thing which 'd give a hint that the susceptibility of injury of the parotid duct becomes very limited if not abolished .
On contrast the superficially lying temporal a. is more subjected to injury as the cut is extending from the point where it's nearly subcutaneous i.e tragus .
And hence, as a conclusion the mentally accepted answer on basis of our sources remains the superficial temporal artery and not the poorly rational answer of the parotid duct .
**********
On asking some doctors , (there are some degree of variation in the surface anatomy of the duct) was the their answer. but still unacceptable to be the model answer in the presence of the more apparent one that's the superficial temporal artery .
That's my ultimate viewpoint in this regard ,
I hope I could pass down my answer clearly
So sorry am I for such prolonged explanation , but I think It was a must
Best Of Luck
yours,
zika

Thanks alot everybody
now who 'll get a new case ?
